How Ranking Works

Overall rank

0 Skill Points is Unranked. Coal I starts at your first Skill Point, the first ranks come quickly and each one after needs a little more. Netherite overall means Netherite in every gamemode.

Gamemode ranks

Every player starts Unranked in every gamemode, then plays 3 placement matches. Placement matches place you between Coal I and Iron III, the better they went the higher in that range. Every rank above Iron III is earned in ranked matches.

Champion is one player per gamemode: ranked, at least 2200 ELO, and first on that mode's leaderboard. It can move to someone else at any time.

How ELO works

From Coal I to Gold II anyone can be matched with anyone in that range. Every round counts: rounds won against a better player give more ELO, rounds lost to a weaker player cost more. Winning a match never loses ELO and losing never gains it.
